Hansen - relaunching a classic

Had the enormous pleasure of working together with John and Michael, father and son, who together have relaunched the granddads furniture from the 50's. The've modernised them with beautiful colours and soft wool. Everything as handmade, with care attention to detail, and I am already hugely in love with mine.

They have just launched their site and webshop - check it our right here - and get one before your neighbour!

Johns Hotdog Deli

A few days ago we got a portrait assignment which finally pushed me into contacting a person I for a long time have been wanting for portrait and just work with in general - John from Johns Hotdog Deli here in Copenhagen.

John is one of the most charismatic and lively persons I have ever met - he is packed full of good energy and passion for something as cool as the good old hotdog! Every month he has a new special hotdog with homemade toppings, sauces, pickles..you name it, and he makes it from scratch! Other than that he makes a lot of mustard and chilisauces, that he sells out of his little 'pølsevogn'.

He is the kind of guy that wakes up in the middle of the night, with a new recipe that he jots down in his little book! I could seriously keep on talking about how awesome I think this guy is - but what I really want you to do, is to go meet him yourself! Getting a hotdog from him is not just grab-and-go food, you get something you will remember! And if you feel chatty, he is always good for some talking! When I photographed him, I ended up spending 2 hours there...and I enjoyed every second of it!

I tell you, even though he entitles himself as just a 'pølsemand' - he has so so so much more than that to him - and I hope that my pictures somehow can portrait that he is a guy with the experience, passion and profoundness to change a lot of things that seriously needs changing!

Small portrait of an old friend

A couple a weeks ago my childhood friend asked me if we could do some pictures of him - and why shouldn't we I thought. So he came by the studio, we ate some food and talked a bit about it and went to work! He is a former world champion in Taekwondo but have retired from the national team, and instead taken control over the Danish Demonstration Team - so naturally we did some body shots using lighting from above to accentuate his muscle tone.

He was surprisingly easy to work with, which was nice since this was one of my first studio portraits. And boy is there a lot on your mind when shooting in the studio! Testing light, instructing model, checking settings, adjusting lights, trying-to-think-of-new-pose and sheer pressure of having to deliver!

But we were both happy with the results - so why not share them with you all!

Thirties inspired photoshoot

When I was working my ass of at Sticks'n'sushi at the Tivoli Hotel, trying to make ends meet and finding an internship so I could pursue a photo career, I met an amazing california girl. Her name is Dina Marinelli and as it tourned out - she is a stylist! She has a blog on Trendsales called Dazed and Rouged
So here half a year after we split, we decided to do a photoshoot together.

Inspired by the 1930's hollywood with heavy shadows, dark backgrounds and lush lipstick. We teamed up with an aspiring model named Amalie. She was a bliss to work with and I foresee that she could go somewhere in the modeling business!

Since I still am not a very strong portrait photographer, I had a very hard time. How is the light? Is the settings correct? How should I instruct the model? Tons of thoughts running through my head and the pressure of having to deliver a final product! I did as best as I could, convincing myself that I can do this. It will probably get better with experience!

Have a look and see what you think of it!
